Hosted by the IMS Paulista Photography Library in São Paulo, Brazil, O que elas viram: fotolivros históricos de mulheres / What They Saw Reading Room at the Instituto Moreira Salles draws from its extensive women’s photobook collection, which includes the recently acquired “Coleção 10×10 Photobooks: Fotolivros Históricos de Mulheres.” Composed of 106 photobooks by women, purchased by 10×10 Photobooks for research, documentation and exhibition purposes to support the publication and its international reading room tour, this collection augments the IMS Library’s already impressive holdings and ensures the ongoing visibility and accessibility of the What They Saw Collection of photobooks by women.
The IMS Library is a unique initiative in Brazil. With a capacity of 30,000 items, it aims to encourage research in the field of photography and contribute to the understanding of photography in its various forms of expression. The collection comprises publications on and about photography, also encompassing its developments in fields such as film, fashion, visual arts, and humanities.
